Message #24 - Lac Titicaca

Hola Jovenes,

Aujourd’hui au programme, le lac Titicaca et ses fameuses « iles flottantes » (malheureusement je ne parle pas du dessert a la creme anglaise que j aime tant !!!).
En fait, d apres notre guide du jour, il y a 500 ans lors de la conquete par les espagnols, des tribus locales ont commence a construire des iles sur le lac a partir de bambous et de terreau (sur une epaisseur de 3 metres!!!) et aujourd’hui, des familles continuent de vivre ainsi !!!!
Voici comment sont faites les iles :

Ah oui je fais les presentations, voici mon pote anglais Oliver avec qui j ai fait l expedition sur les iles. On a beaucoup beaucoup beaucoup fait la fete par la suite mais je garde ca pour les prochains posts ;-) !!!!

Hi guys,

Today is about Titicaca lake and its famous floating islands!!! Let’s talk about history just a bit….500 years ago, when the Spaniards came to conquer South America and reached Puno, the local tribes had to escape and decided to build some floating islands made of bamboo sticks in order to keep safe….and ever since, people still live here!!!!
Here is how the islands are built:

They even built great boat out of bamboo sticks:

Oh, by the way, I almost forgot to introduce my British friend Oliver who went on the islands trip with me. We went to many many many parties after the tour but you will know more about that in the coming posts ;-) !!!!!!
